Friday Nights at The Lion's Head

Solar Nova Scotia meets at The Lion's Head Tavern, on Robie St near Young, every Friday night between 5:30 and 7 pm. Frequently members are there as early as 5 pm and sometime stay until 8 pm or later. It's a great opportunity to come down and talk about solar or alternative energy ideas, problems, or accomplishments. You don't have to be a member to join us and it can be a great way to find out if you're interested in solar energy. We look forward to seeing you there.

Solar Shelter Courses

The course is offered as a six-evening course in Halifax after the spring and fall home shows, and during the winter in Halifax, Windsor, Chester and Bridgewater if there are sufficient registrations. Notifications of the dates of the courses are sent out by email, so send a note to Solar Nova Scotia to be added to our mailing list.

Spring and Fall Home Shows

Come and visit our booth at the Spring and Fall Homes shows in Halifax.

Solar Home Tour

We have spring and fall tours of fabulous solar homes near Halifax every year, generally a week or two after the Home Show. Details of the tour are provided in the newsletter that comes out before the Home Show and can be picked up at the show. The tours generally run from about 3 pm until 6 pm and end with a potluck.

These tours are an amazing opportunity to see some of the nicest solar homes in the area, chat with the owners to see what they wanted in their home and how they achieved it, and to hear details about the construction from Don Roscoe, a prominent solar builder.

Notifications of upcoming tours go out by email, so send a note to Solar Nova Scotia to be added to our mailing list.

Annual General Meeting

The Solar NS AGM is generally held around Groundhog Day in February. Not only does the AGM offer interesting presentations (the last few have been on investing in wind energy, Surrett Batteries, and deregulation in the electrical industry) but also, the AGM is known for being held in wonderful Halifax locations. It has been held in the greenhouse of the life Sciences Building at Dalhousie, the Dartmouth Holiday Inn and the Cambridge Military Library. You never know what new views you'll get by attending the AGM.
